Sorry that it’s taking time before I post. And this is the reason, I’ve been hopping around the world through my gastronomic trip around metro. Last time was Indian food, this time it’s Vietnamese. Xin chào!

Natasha’s King Prawns with Mangoes (with organic greens, red onions, mangoes, and lemon garlic dressing); PhP300.00
Simple flavors
The dishes served were fusion of authentic Vietnamese preparations and contemporary. They incorporated contemporary taste to appeal to the adventurous palate, but at the same time can satisfy Vietnamese craving taste buds. The taste were not as distinct as that of the Indian, nor any other cuisine for that matter. It gives a fresh feel to every dish, not so hard to digest, no strong taste. The recipes originated from Vietnamese national Chef Danny Wu, acclaimed chef and managing partner of Aquaknox.

It’s refreshingly fresh
They first served the salad for starters (Leo Natividad [Nice Foods, VP of GFAP-Y], Jim Chiu, Gerard Chua [Golden Ever Printing}, and I shared our orders). The leaves of the salad were crispy green, just as what it looks like. The shrimp on top didn't scare me away (allergies) instead, it lured me into taking a bite--- the whole crunchy bite. And then came the next course, Prawn in Coconut milk, this one disappointed me--- the shrimp was over cooked (I didn't have the time to ask for a replacement). The shrimp was gummy, I think if you use coconut milk to boil shrimps it will make it gummy--- it was supposed to be a little bit flaky, melting in your mouth. Anyway, the Garlic Salted Calamari redeemed the night, it's yummier, alot more delicious than that of North Park's, but I guess they're way different to be compared.

Prawns in Coconut Milk (sautéed with lemongrass, broccoli, pepper, and coconut milk); PhP390.00
Star of the night
The Salmon was the 3rd dish that came out of the kitchen (it was Jim’s choice), but I think I had most of it. The salmon was certainly the best, the marinade made it lansa-less, it’s all just pure delight, tender meat. It’s heaven, it’s Vietnam. Vietnam as we all know just beside the South China Sea.

"Ca Kho To" Salmon Steaks in Caramel Fish Sauce (With green onion and coriander); PhP380.00
Vietnamese won the war
The verdict. We’ll definitely be back at Aquaknox: 800 Arnaiz Ave. corner Amorsolo Street, San Lorenzo, Makati City. You can call them at 894 3380. Email: info@aquaknox.com.ph
